It’s that time of the year when condensation in cars is particularly troublesome – especially in older vehicles.

Recent research conducted for Confused.com revealed that one in five (20%) of UK drivers are dealing with condensation on a regular basis.

Worryingly, it’s putting motorists and other road users in danger, with one in 10 (10%) claiming to have had an accident or near-miss as a result of condensation.

Furthermore, more than a third (37%) of those claimed the accident or near-miss happened because they were trying to wipe down the windscreen.

The study also indicated that many drivers don’t know how to deal with the issue. In fact, more than one in 20 (6%) admitted they don’t do anything to clear their windscreen, while 16% were confused about how to get rid of it.

Of those who have tried to tackle condensation, the top three most common fixes were:

  1. Put the air conditioning on and wait for it to clear
  2. Air out the car by leaving the windows open
  3. Pull over and wipe the window

To help motorists, Confused.com has created handi guide on how to tackle condensation in cars.
